Occupation: Sports Therapist and Fitness Instructor

Kettlebell Instructor Level One

It was the infamous John ‘Spud’ Murphy who got me into Sports Therapy and Kettlebells. I have always had a passion for sport and fitness training and having had my fair share of injuries over the years I decided I wanted to help others so I enrolled at Dudley College, met John and began on the road of Sports Therapy.

My career as a Sports Therapist has been a varied and enjoyable one. I work with my local Rugby club, I treat nationally ranked athletes, semi professional footballers, over keen gardeners and have enjoyed an all expenses paid trip to look after 4 runners at the New York marathon (my treatment room was the Crown Plaza Hotel with the room over looking Times Square).

I have and always will be a huge fan of free and body weight exercises and I’m always looking at different exercises and regimes to help both my clients and myself. It took John’s horrendous back injury to introduce me to Kettlebells. Having seen the dramatic results of Johns return to fitness I was intrigued. So when Stan and Sue came to Dudley to do a seminar I couldn’t wait to go – 4 hours later with my total body knackered I was hooked. Shortly afterwards I purchased my first 16kg and an 8kg for my wife and neither of us have looked back since.

I now use my Kettlebells in my circuit training classes, for personal training and for rehabilitation of clients all with excellent results. On a personal note, they have strengthened my shoulder, which was injury prone, allowing me to return to playing Rugby and my core strength has increased considerably.
